As a multilingual that can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English, I have to say his Mandarin is very impressive, because in Hong Kong, we usually start off with Cantonese, and it's very challenging to learn Mandarin as well. However if you learn Cantonese first, it's a huge advantage in learning Mandarin second, because there are less tones in Mandarin and more in Cantonese so it's easier to memorize, but if you learn Mandarin first, it's hard af to learn Cantonese. That's why if you wanna learn the two Chinese languages, start with Cantonese.
